Ah, police dogs!! I had forgotten about those. Well, I'm not sure what I think about that, Michael. Do police dogs enjoy what they are doing? Now that you mention it, we have police horses here helping officers patrol the parks and beaches, and they seem to really enjoy their work. I would say that would have to be part of it for me--does the animal enjoy what he or she is doing? The horses and dogs here form very close attachments with the officers who work with them, and elaborate funerals are held for them when they retire or die, in honor of their contributions.

Do the dolphins really enjoy their work with the U.S. Navy? Animal rights groups argue that they do not, and that there is a substantial "escape" rate.
