Anyone that is just now saying "ATM to the desktop is dead" is way out of step. Most have agreed that ATM in the LAN has been dead for years. But, GE supplanting ATM in the core... I don't think that'll ever happen AND, if one looks at xDSL technology - ATM is being touted as the foundation for multiservice delivery. GE and ATM will coexist for the forseeable future where GE is mainly looked at as an edge technology while ATM rules the core. Of course I'm generalizing. JMO.. OG
