To ALL AMD Threaders:
I am relatively new to the AMD thread and want to know the general consensus for this company/industry (X86 and beyond). The recent alliance with Motorola seems to be a good move but I have lost what little confidence I had in their CEO after the last earnings report. Is Intel, the 100,000 lb gorilla, going to smash AMD and National Semi or will Intel let them carve out a niche in the low price processor market? I bought into this stock after my neighbor who design circuits for IBM (PowerPC) said that AMD was turning the corner with help from IBM. This alliance has benefited AMD in improved yield but they are still not making a profit. Did Jerry sandbag last quarters numbers with all his losses so he can start showing a profit next quarter? Will the AMD Dresden Germany fab be a major drain on profits until it gets going? I know most of you like to bicker about when Copper will become available and whether it will work or not and when will 1Ghz chips become available but I have a more fundamental question IS THIS COMPANY WORTH INVESTING IN???? Your replies are greatly appreciated.
