I guess I wonder why they have to cost so much more. Surely once you get beyond a certain number of units there are no more economies of scale issues to overcome. Do you think they are in a catch-22 here with price and volume of components? Or are volumes high enough that they could be competitive if they wanted to be? I don't know jack about computer architecture/operating systems -- I just thought that the Macs were a little different with respect to hardware and a whole lot different w/respect to the OS. How different is a Mac from a INTC based machine?
