Waterhouse does a pretty poor job for a day trader. by the time one gets a real time qoute and enters the trade the stock price can change alot. I find it sometimes takes 5-10 minutes to enter a trade during the trading day.
Day trading for a living takes alot more than $20,000, at least on the East Coast. I would say maybe $200,000 would be more appropriate. I tried day trading with far less and the hazards occur when a Stock your holding is down graded and drops 20-30% at the open of the trading day. Anyway, unless you can live with $20,000 a year income, I would say one needs to invest more or borrow on margin which can be risky.
I heard Ameri-trade offers a system that allows one to display multiple realtime quotes, and is faster and entering and confirming orders.
