I am also quite amused (and concerned) by the short position. Only the shorts that cover their position actually make money. With such a large position and only a limited amount of shares floating around, it wouldn't take much share demand to drive some of these people to financial ruin. By the time they cover their shorts, their shorts will be covered in skid marks.

I do, however, hold the company partially responsible for the low share price. They publicly announced that they had a strategy to deal with the shorts. (If anyone from Hummingbird monitors this thread - We're still waiting, and waiting and waiting..........) It appears that the shorts now believe that Hummingbird has cried "Wolf" once too often and the shareholders are the ones that are paying the price.

I agree that Hummingbird makes an interesting test case ;-)
