There are products that can be attached to the inside of glass, preferably at least sealed double glass that reflect 79% of the heat to the outside and a lower number to the inside in winter. These I believe are using silver, however, they are quite expensive and take approx 3 to 5 years to recover the costs depending on where the climate. The auto glass may just be a variation of this. Many high rises have used this same principal for years with success. Now that El Nino is upon us and we want to conserve energy, etc, maybe there will be a push in this direction.
