IXC & Time Warner Team On Long Distance Services

AUSTIN, TEXAS, U.S.A., Newsbytes via NewsEdge Corporation : IXC Communications [NASDAQ:IIXC) has announced it isteaming up with Time Warner Telecom to allow Time Warner to offer long distance services alongside its competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) services.
Under the terms of the two-year agreement, IXC will provide a wide variety of telecommunications services, including domestic and international long distance, 800, operator assisted, directory assistance, and calling card services.
According to IXC, it will also supply end user billing facilities, back office support, and customer services -- features which the company says will allow Time Warner Telecom to supply branded long distance services to its local dial tone customers.
"The partnership with Time Warner Telecom marks a significant penetration into an important emerging market," said Ben Scott, IXC's chairman.
According to IXC, its network will play a central role in Time Warner Telecom's nationwide activation plan that will connect several major US cities over the next 60 days, including Albany, Austin, Binghamton, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Columbus, Greensboro, Houston, Indianapolis, New York, Memphis, Milwaukee, Orlando, Raleigh, Rochester, San Antonio, San Diego and Tampa.
