The game is already over for Novell as operating system vendor. They are so far behind the curve in so many areas that it would require a decade or more to catch up to the billions of dollars of development MS has poured and will continue to pour into NT.

IMO, Novell should focus (not in their vocabulary) on currently superior subsystems like NDS and work with the huge monolithic software monopoly and not against it. That is, provide added value since Microsoft can't and does not want to do it all. UNIX was the last best chance to unseat NT but the death knell sounded for that effort when the personification of incompetence decided to become the umpteenth vendor of UNIX for PCs.

IMO, what Sun, Netscape and Novell are underestimating is the value of the myriad API sets currentlly available under Windows including software for the next generation of 3D interfaces This all happens at a time when the Java machine is desparately trying to keep up with even the most basic services available to Windows programmers.. I think Java will get there, but Microsoft will still be driving this ship well into the next millennium.

The other problem is way too many pesos outstanding on this pup.
