For anyone still concerned about competition from Meretek's breath test, don't be. According to the Newswatch section of U.S. News & World Report's 4 November 1996 edition, Meretek's breath test costs around $300 (http://www.usnews.com/usnews/ISSUE/4WATCH.HTM).

The magazine shows a small picture of a guy blowing into a bag that looks about the size of a volleyball.

The article says that until recently an endoscopy has been the usual way to document H. pylori.

Endoscopy may have been the usual way, but considering the breath test's price, does anyone not expect Quidel's test to become the usual?
