Tim A,

I have been called names all weekend and now I am stick-in-mud!! OK, you asked for it. Here comes off topic Asia stuff.

Martin Biggs had been bearish for some time and I give him lots of credibility. Not sure about his most recent comments but I know his previous opinions were backed by personal visits to Asia, seeing first hand for himself vs so many "experts" who probably cannot find Japan on the map.

My latest take on this situation is the yen will fall. The only chance the yen has is for Greenspan to ease monetary policies here.

Applying a weak yen to every scenario and not much positive shows up. Try the exercise yourself and you will know what I mean.

One of the factors supporting the US market to date is the anticipation of earnings recovery. I seriously doubt that we can recovery within a qtr or two, so it is likely that a new round of revisions for FY99 should be forthcoming for all the big multinationals.

Unfortunately, QCOM is going to be dragged dn if the market corrects. I really don't remember QC being in better shape than now, during the few years that I have owned the stock. Those of us who are fully committed are just going to have to wait out the market. Those who have money on the side line should be happy for the potential opportunity.
