It is amazing to me that GENZ just reported quarterly numbers (which were very good), two analysts have upgraded the stock, the stock is up 15% over the last two weeks and there is no discussion of this company's fundamentals. Cerazyme sales are up again strongly and the company is likely to have two additional products approved this year. Surgical products remains the company's achiles heel. Margins are tight in that division and Seprafilm although making progress is still not a meaningful contributer to earnings. Surgeons are notoriously conservative and the company continues to make progress in terms reorder rate. To date Seprafilm has been a big disappointment. R&D is likely to increase substantially going forward as the company has also increased its new product development with several deals involving Liposomal abnormalities. Clearly Genzyme views this area as their key therapeudic niche. With an already developed sales force any new products in this area would be highly accretive. The stock is trading at about 17 times next years concensus first call earnings which is about a 40% discount to big pharma despite a greater likelyhood of achieving a higher growth rate.

If anyone would like to discuss the company's fundamentals I would be interested in the discussion. Please do not waste my time with posts about insider trading or prior history stock performance. Iam interested int he future.
