This tidbit was in my inbox this morning... From [ITS]Mark's Monday Memo: - Thomson expects to have shipped 100,000 DSS (DirecTv and USSB) receivers with Dolby Digital output by year end. - In the same time frame, EchoStar plans to deliver a combo DVD- player/satellite receiver. EchoStar's latest receiver-only boxes also offer Dolby Digital outputs. Three questions: Who else besides Cube has a Settop decoder that does Dolby Digital? Who else besides Cube has Settop decoder chip and a DVD chip that is based on the same core silicon (and just different microcode?) ? Who's chips are these guys using?
