'But if the Millennium Bug stopped the car from starting, the exclusion would apply.

Commercial Union's group claims manager, Chris Rodd, says the company has spent months sifting through
its products. "We've got 120 product lines and Y2K exclusions will apply to some but not others," said
Rodd. "We are right in the middle of it now and are hoping to have various exclusions for new business and
renewals from September 1."

He says that, with motor vehicle policies, an accident resulting from a faulty microchip causing the car to fail,
slide off the road and into a tree would be covered. But if the Millennium Bug stopped the car from starting,
the exclusion would apply.
