Hi Dan. I just had a long talk with Kevin Holmes(sp) of WorldHeart. He has an extremely good "grip" on the Heartsaver technology. I was sincerely amazed at the leap in technology that Heartsaver represents. I have spent the majority of my life as an electronics technician and did not fully appreciate what has been achieved here!

The shoulder holster that holds the charging coil in place also performs diagnostics through the coil and monitors the heart. There are audible alarms that let the user know whether the coils are appropriately aligned for charging. There is no RF burn to the skin. They are working on an rf transmitter from the holster to a baseunit in your home. The baseunit in your home would dial Worldheart with status information. The battery pack which I assumed was in the heart is actually going to be implanted in the stomach under the skin. If new battery technology appears than day surgery will replace the old battery! The Heartsaver is programmable and can be "upgraded" (if approved) with the newest of software. This elliminates the 3 year old Heartsaver being considered an Edsel (sorry Ford). Capacity in the existing Worldheart plant can satisfy 2001 expected production.

I was asking many "uneducated questions" from "Well theres 4 arteries coming out of the heart, how come there's only two connections on the Heartsaver! Too "Where do you put it? Its not like the human body came with "spare space for it"!! All questions were answered and Kevin displayed an interest in educating as opposed to an interest in "impressing"!

Any ommissions or errors are the part of the author... hopefully I remembered everything correctly!

I'm in!!!!

PS Sorry if this is old news to any/all of you..... but I'm just catching up!!
