Geographical Expansion

Last quarter saw a pretty steep increase in European sales. Part of this could be ascribed to general improvement in European economy. The other reason could be Doug Merril who is leading the European sales effort. What magic did he do to make such a steep increase possible in Leica territory? (European sales up 55 percent to $21 M a quarter). Did Trimble open new offices? Did they increase marketing staff? Something worked fine. And European market overall should be at least as big as US. Room to grow revenues to $35M-40M a quarter.

Also noticed that US sales were up only 4 percent. Did the growth rate drop off because Doug left for Europe?

I also noticed that Trimble does not have regular offices in the following large economies - South Africa (Rich African nation. Big mining center), Egypt, Middle East, Holland, India, Chile, Argentina, Ireland, S. Korea. Selling $40,000/unit items must require a lot of personal contacts and local office support. Time to open more offices?
