well it was a pretty nervous day in the markets today ,its hard to know where a safe haven will be , certainly there is absolutely no indication that that is going to be gold which continues to fall related to a strong dollar ,poor demand from asia and general commodity deflation including the price of oil , hard to see that turn around anytime soon which is why i like barrick as the safest of the golds though dont own any .interesting article yesterday in the new york times about the relative value of microsoft versus general motors and how ridiculously overpriced microsoft is and the reverse for general motors , also an interesting articles about the extreme values presenting themselves in asia with some good quality companies having a pe of 3 or less ,probably time to start nibbling there for those with a long term horizon
im surprised that clk still posts here , the other hypsters seem to have disappeared into thin air presumably after they unloaded there sweetly priced pp shares and options ,obviously .it was necessary to keep the price of the stock as high as possible for as long as possible after the annual meeting to allow for unloading of shares after the 1 year time holding period was over
so many vse companies have skirted the vse insider trading rules by rewarding people with sweetly priced private placement shares who in return promoted these stocks on venues like silicon investor ,promising the lurker that they were privy to inside info and the world didnt really know about this stock yet etc .its all turned to s--- now of course ,because there was no substance behind most of these companies just promises and the internet gave the promoters a much wider market than they had before, but most were very smart they did not post themselves in most cases because of insider trading rules etc but gave private placements to certain well placed people who posted on si a lot and then fed them the pap which they regurgitated very convincingly to the lurkers who bought the stocks up merrily thinking they were getting good inside info rather than being taken to the cleaners.trust and reputation is very hard to obtain and easily lost , i cannot see that trust in vse stocks returning for the next 20 years because so many have been taken to the cleaners whilst the regulators were asleep no doubt whilst watching the profits role in to the various stock exchanges, the opposite is obviously now the case .just my humble opinion of course .arh
