Craig,

I think the crux of the argument about what to do at this time is demonstrating the switch and marketing it. Just two comments:

"4. I would set up a high-performance test lab at Ancor HQ to showcase Fibre Channel's
capabilities, and what benefits an Ancor solution could provide to customers.
Real-time, full motion video, high speed data backup, number crunching, etc. could all
be demonstrated without a huge cash outlay."

I think the most straightforward way to do this is to send a switch to CERN. Let them test it with the latest high performance adapters and post the results like they did with the Silkworm.

"9. I would seriously consider entering the Gigabit Ethernet market. If nothing else,
proving that Ancor has this capability would increase their value to potential suitors."

I have an opinion that the key may not be GE vs. FC, but connecting SANs to legacy systems. They may be able to do this with edge devices or strategic partnerships. GE switch competition is just too intense and there may be some GE startups that don't make it.

I don't think Ancor will have any competition with large (64 and 128 port) switches.

George D.
