I have been having the same problem you have in the past few days.

I keep getting error messages when I click on, say, the "change stock order" button.

I sent email to E*trade but have not heard back from them as of yet.

I did send email to Mark Haines (CNBC morning anchor) to ask what he thinks of electronic brokerages in general and he (actually) read and replied. His suggestion was to try Lombard Securities...the surveys he'd seen indicate that Lombard has a higher customer satisfaction rating than E*Trade.....despite Money Magazine's recent endorsment of E*trade as the creme-de-la-creme.
