I like LVLT when compared to QWST for several reasons. In particular order:

1) Management team of Crowe and Scott have demonstrated their ability to build a telecom co. from the ground up and reward s/hs while doing so.

2) Co.'s more technology-oriented than QWST. Owns information service/consulting company (PKSIS?) and has made several recent telecom tech acquisitions including XCOM and trans-Atlantic telecom co.

3) Owns some 50% of RCNC -- telecom service provider on east coast offering local, long distance, internet (owns ISPs including Erols) and cable.

4) Moving aggressively internationally.

5) Best of all -- for the most part -- not even covered on Wall Street. Once split and recommendations start coming, I'm hopeful that the mo will continue.

Remember, Jack Grubman is not just a telecom analyst -- he's a banker, QWST's banker. He recommends the stock in part for the benefit of the co. He is hardly impartial and for the record, though he's been right on WCOM, he hasn't done so well w/ Telebras and other picks -- Scott.
