This stopped happening in the US since early 1997. As long as many stocks are in the hands of momentum geeks, a la Jim Cramer, there is no such thing as "discounting for the future prospects." They just trade on the premise of 'acting well' or 'greater fool theory.' BTW, these are the inefficiencies of the markets that give you an opportunity to make money. -MMV
