I remember tube testers. Barely. I was waht, five?six? Two square feet of bakelite with these neat Braille ideograms in them. I decided I wanted to have one of those big-*** mombo tubasauri that went into the thirteen-pin horseshoe proudly elevated in the very center of the lesser sockets. That one had to be *special*, like for a phaser rifle or something. Being a six-year-old boy, I could envision no finer material possession. 'Xept maybe the plasma rifle itself.
