Eclipse Signs Martial Arts Action Star Ernie Reyes Jr. to Three Picture Deal
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 28, 1998-- Eclipse Entertainment Group Inc. (OTC.BB:ECLE) and Westar Entertainment Inc., its wholly owned film production and distribution subsidiary unveiled their plans to open a film and television studio in Sardinia, Italy.
Development applications have been filed with the local government of Sardinia, for which Eclipse anticipates initial approvals within six to eight months.
The plans were announced Thursday night at the official opening of Westar Entertainment's new offices in Los Angeles,
followed by a dinner party at Schatzi on Main. In attendance were Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife Maria Shriver,
bodybuilding guru Joe Weider and his wife Betty, Conan TV star Ralph Muller, Rae Dawn Chong, Corin Nemec, William Smith and Ernie Reyes Jr. and Sr.
Franco Columbu, Westar's president, stated: ''Today marks the first day of a new era for Eclipse and Westar. We are all very excited about our future. The office gives Westar a presence in Los Angeles and a foundation for the future. The development of the new studio in Italy gives our whole organization a new dimension.''
Eclipse has inked a three-picture deal with martial arts action star Ernie Reyes Jr. and his world-renowned action team.
The deal includes a minimum of three pictures over the next four years. Formerly the youngest black belt in North America to compete in and win adult martial arts tournaments, Ernie has gone on to star in such Hollywood blockbusters as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II and Surf Ninjas. Eclipse feels that Ernie Reyes Jr. and his action team will quickly enable them to be the leader in martial arts action genre films.
