I can't discuss this one, (lack of knowledge) I have heard different versions, myself.
Small floats discourage big buyers.. no liquidity...
Small floats enable squeezes.
Small floats have larger price swings.
Small floats have larger spreads.
I like a medium size float, say 3-4 million, on say 20+ million shares.

I don't know really, I guess I am just happy to make money.
I will lurk on the thread to see what I can learn.
