Thanks for the background information. It was helpful.

I did read one article by Bill Frezza, (Succumbing to Techno- Seduction) but could find nothing to warrant the attacks on Ericsson by some of the Qualcomm posters. It seems to have been merely a difference of opinion and at the time, I wonder if Ericsson was not right.

CDMA did not have all the kinks worked out and should not have been offered commercially until they had. The complaints of Qualcomm's Korean customers indicate that this was true according to one article I read. Ericsson preferred to offer their customers a proven system.
Incidentally, one customer also commented on Qualcomm exclusive claim to CDMA. "Qualcomm invented an engine, not the airplane." The fact that Qualcomm also has patent disputes with other telecommunications companies, eg Motorola, indicates that the rest of the world does not share Qualcomm's views.
