Golden Eagle investor bound for Bolivia
A Calgary teacher is heading to a Bolivian jungle to try to verify claims
by a Denver mining company that it has found the world's biggest gold
deposit.

Cam Birge, who also runs a Honda dealership, has been picked by
shareholders of Golden Eagle International Inc. to review the
company's operations. The investors have donated money through the
Internet to pay Mr. Birge's expenses.

Mr. Birge, who owns about 100,000 Golden Eagle shares, will be
accompanied by a Denver geologist who is also a shareholder.

"I'm going to try to be as objective as possible," Mr. Birge said from
his home in Calgary. "This story is so incredible."

Mr. Birge has no geology background and has never been to Bolivia.
But he is fluent in Spanish and says he was selected because investors
were impressed by his comments on the Internet about the company.

Golden Eagle has been surrounded by controversy since May when it
released a geological report that said its Cangalli site in Bolivia
contained up to 157 million ounces of gold - more than twice as much
as Bre-X Minerals Ltd. claimed it found in Indonesia.
