More wrestling nonsense :>)

WCW/NWO Revenge
Reaches GI

07.28.98
Wrestling Central, otherwise knows as GI Headquarters, has
basically been flooded in wrestling games, and like Scrooge
McDuck, we stack up all the games in the middle of the
room, then leap into the pile, spreading the joy of WCW and
the WWF high on into the air. We bathe in wrestling games,
then use the manuals to dry ourselves off. We dress in
authentic costumes, video tape our original moves, and send
it into the Nitro party contest. Sometimes, we don these
costumes and head to the local mall, attracting bands of
young autograph seekers (and a few female wrestling fans as
well!).

Some call us crazy, others see us as devoted fans. Either
way, when a new wrestling video game rears its head, you'd
better believe Game Informer is going to give it the business,
and work it into the ground. Such is the case with THQ's
latest N64 wrestler, WCW/NWO Revenge. The game is
similar to WCW/NWO World Tour, with a few key
differences. The first is control. While it plays about the same
in terms of commands, the movement of wrestlers is much
smoother, and executing moves happens more quickly. Thus,
the flow of the game is now faster. You can drop an
opponent, pick them up, drop them again, and enter into a
submission hold quickly, and easily. Throwing an opponent
into the ropes or turnbuckle is also easier. Unfortunately, the
version we have is very early, so no special moves are in yet,
and only a few different wrestlers are available. But we did
win out first Championship, which unlocked Curt Henning.

Also new are the intros and backdrops. Prior to matches,
each wrestler walks out on stage, flexes, and does a small
celebration. The different backdrops include: Monday Nitro,
Souled Out, Super Brawl, Bash At The Beach, Halloween
Havoc, and Starrcade. The backgrounds and logos are
authentic, and the music is cool. Also, a new 2D referee
appears at the bottom of the screen, which is interesting, but
not really a big deal.

Just like the previous game, you can edit costumes, but
there's now twice as many costumes to choose from. The
camera is really close, and with four separate wrestlers going
at it, the action stays surprisingly fast-paced.

Again, the version we have is early, so it's impossible to
know the final list of WCW and NWO wrestlers set to
appear, but all the big names are sure to be in here. Here's
some pictures to check out, and keep your eyes peeled for
further updates as we receive new and better copies of the
game.
