I guess (like everyone else, up or down) that Speedfam will emerge from the current slump in a strong position. Reasons-1. Cash and lots of it. 2. Technology-Auriga was mentioned as a product of the year in 1997 or have people forgotten the award. 3. a new 300 mm tool in development as a result of forward thinking management and their cash position. 4. Plant and equipment, a new building in construction behind the current one. Supposed to be for R & D but perhaps also production. 5. CMP still noted as the highest growth segment in the Equipment Industry. Especially true with sub micron geometries and copper. Think I saw recently that Intel was moving entirely over to .25 microns and heading to .18. My problem is where is the bottom? But it is sure interesting at today's close after seeing the run to $59. AMAT is still the big dog, IPEC can't make any money, Strasbaugh and others are still in the hunt and one must believe that the CMP market contains room enough for the survivors when the upturn comes.
