Greetings DLL, Steve, and all the brethren. cont'd. DLL's post # 19739 1. 2 Sam. 7:10, I am glad that you mentioned this verse DLL because as I read 2 Sam. 7, yesterday, this verse was impressed upon me. I believe that we should very much keep in mind the unsettled background and turbulent times of the Judges that Israel had come through up to the time David was made King. When David was crowned King, Israel enjoyed peace and prosperity from their enemies. If I recall correctly, this place was Jerusalem. I also believe that verse 10 could quite possibly be giving us foreshadows of another Kingdom which the Lord Jesus Christ will bring about by His death and resurrection, a kingdom not of this world, a spiritual kingdom where only sons and daughters of this Kingdom can enter through the Door, that being Jesus Christ, and the city, the New Jerusalem. 2. " My people Israel " refers to the twelve tribes. Jacob, after wrestling with God had his name changed to " Israel ". " Israel " by biblical definition means " to be overcome by God ". How well that describes the people of God in both Old and New Covenants. 1 Cor. 1:30, " But by HIS ( GOD) doing you are in Christ Jesus,.......". Thank you Lord that you overcame us. 3. The children of wickedness are the many enemies Israel encountered during the times prior to King David. 4. answered by #3. 5 .I do not know with any certainty if David was the only one , or if there were others who God showed the foreshadows of the Eternal Covenant that was promised to Abraham. This promise in Gen 12:3, made to Abraham, of One who would come from his seed and bless ALL NATIONS, can be likened to a relay race. The first runner in the race is Abraham.......then Moses.........then David.........then Daniel........then Jesus Christ. 6. I think David was under the Law in one sense, in that the Law was still in effect. However, In his heart and mind he was a free man, He had caught sight of the grace that was to be freely given by the long awaited Holy One of Israel. 7. Absolutely, without question, the Holy one of Israel is the Lord Jesus Christ. Well, dear brethren, I trust God has been glorified and we all have gained by our time together looking into the Holy Word. The Lord willing, will talk again tomorrow. Grace and peace be unto all.
