That Cold War cost us far more than the accumulated deficits under Reagan, which were greatly increased by a free-spending Democrat House. In any event, FDR's deficits were vastly greater in real terms, and did not end the economic failure of the New Deal. Then there is the whole Social Security mess that FDR left to future generations to solve. The actuarial deficits in that scheme drawf his previous record. >>And ending the Cold War will spell the doom of all of us. Creates complacency and eventually one of these fanatic freaks will start lobbing nukes around and that will be real helpful to the summer crops.. Then why did Clinton sell all that technology to China for illegal campaign cash? That led both India and Pakistan to go nuclear. Just what did he sell Indonesia for that nation's illegal investment in his campaign? Thank you Ron, for ending the Cold War and giving us the peace dividend. Hopefully any surplus will be returned to the people and not spent on wasteful Democrat vote-buying. >>Afghanistan had as much to do with the end of the Cold War as Reagan did, and that didn't cost us a penny [that is, on the books!]. Wrong, dopey. Reagan gave the rebels the Stinger missiles which won that conflict. They weren't free and were a small but integral part of Reagan's successful strategy to pressure the Soviet Empire into collapse.
