Lots of us -- Hell, all of us! -- formed their investment opinions about Apple before we ever knew what an iMac was! Not quite. My opinion on AAPL was that it would die a profitable death, i.e. post many quarters in the black while steadily, if slowly, losing market share. Then the MacOS X disaster happened. The iMac changes that. It gives Apple their first honest shot at increased market share. Not a shot at increased unit sales to existing owners, but increased market share of the population at large. I don't consider the iMac success a given. IMHO it remains to be seen. But it is certainly a good effort in the right direction.
