I'm puzzled that the EMU would be considered bad for Germany. Germany was one of the strongest supporters of a plan that will pull the other European countries more toward the sound money German ideal. Why would Germany push a plan harmful to them? Underlying all of the various European integration schemes is the idea that closer union will make another European war impossible, and maybe this over- rides other factors. I will be interested in hearing any comments by more knowledgeable board members on this subject.
I would doubt if SAP could or would become an American company. The new Daimler Benz Chrysler has more US than German stockholders, and I believe it's still a German company.
