Av -- Amid all the noise and confusion of your last two posts (you and Patrick are good at this, I'll admit), you actually made an interesting point in your uniquely literate way:

------

"I notice that in your CSW comments about Carson, you consistently state that he
is a "transplanted Irish-British national"...yet on SH, when discussing the analyst from
Scotia who attacks KRY, you say... 'I'm at a loss to see the relevance of his nationality, or his ethnicity, the kind of church he attends or the colour of his skin.'

"So, why do you harp on Carson's nationality and ethnic background?? Is there some
relevance to it or just some deep seated resentment over the "Irish" part??

"Kinda IRONIC...dontcha think???

"AV"

------

First, I made that comment about the analyst from Scotia Capital, Felix Freeman, because someone had said Mr Freeman may be South African in origin and therefore predisposed to supporting PDG's Hugh Leggatt (who I suppose also is originally from SA). The stupidity of such an inference is overwhelming (to the point of a ROFL, in your parlance). That's why I made the comment that Mr Freeman's background was not relevant.

However, you point out that Stockwatch's summaries of Carson e-mail news items often mention that he is a transplanted Irish-British national, and quite rightly wonder if there's a double standard going on.

The difference is that, in spite of their brevity, these Carson summaries must stand on their own as self-explaining stories. So if a reader not familiar with Crystallex or the people who tout the stock on the Internet happens to come across one of our items, he or she may wonder what a guy with an Irish name is doing in Caracas. Referring to him as a transplanted Irish-British national does quite well in a short space. It shows that he has not always lived there, but now makes a living there.

This is common in journalism but not something I'd expect you to be up on.

Your statement that we may have some "deep-seated resentment" about his being Irish (or British) is simply stupid. It should not surprise a man of the world such as yourself that my name, Collins, is in fact an Irish name. Hollywood made a movie about Irish nationalist Michael Collins a couple of years ago, but I guess you passed it over in favour of Lethal Weapon 3.

Furthermore, I'm also a British national. I was born in Canada but have a nice shiny red UK passport, which gives me the right to live and work anywhere in the EU.

On another matter, if as you say your unnamed trust-company employer has been revealed, how about telling everyone which trust company it is, and whether or not it approves of your Internet "hobby" . . . ? Like you have said many times, you have nothing to hide.

You thought it was important to tell the world you had a car accident a few days ago. Let's tell everyone where you work, too.
