Interesting idea to spin off the brokerage business as a way of increasing shareholder value. But I don't see it happening, as TD sees the discount brokerage business as the source of their future growth.

The holders of TD ADR's are being hit with a double whammy. Declining stock price in TD Canadian shares, along with declining Canadian dollar. Eventually the Canadian dollar will actually go up against the US dollar. But when this trend will reverse I have no idea.
Maybe we will get some sort of interest in Canadian banks after the Canadian government report on mergers etc. comes out. This should be this fall, as I understand it.
