Paul,
I agree, that they are solvable, and will require huge
investments both in R&D and capital spending. This is true for the semiconductor industry in general.
There is no one else (unless IBM is hatcheting up some new process
in its Watson research labs) who has the money to overcome these hurdles, other than Intel.
It also raises the entry bar for the competition. On the negative side
could cause the cost of microprocessors to go up significantly which
could affect demand. But then 5-10 years is a long time. Oh! well can't have your cake and eat it too..
