Actually side 2 is "obligated" to show up sooner or later. For example the chances of side 1 coming up side 1 twenty times in a row is less than one in a million. However, if indeed side 1 has come up nineteen times in a row, then the chances are one in two that side one will come up on the next toss. Which is to say that the probability of the next occurrence is independent previous occurrences, but that is different than what you wrote.
