Business Editors
CHATSWORTH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 1996--Plasma & Materials Technologies Inc. (PMT) (NASDAQ:PMAT), an international supplier of etch and deposition equipment used to manufacture semiconductors, Tuesday announced that Jim Marshall has resigned as the company's executive vice president and general manager of PMT's etch division, effective Jan. 1, 1997. Prior to the recent acquisition of Electrotech Group, Marshall served as PMT's executive vice president and chief operating officer. Marshall is resigning from PMT to become president and chief executive officer of Matrix Integrated Systems, a noncompeting equipment company located in Richmond, Calif. ``Jim Marshall has made a significant contribution here at PMT,'' said Greg Campbell, PMT's chief executive officer. ``Jim's goal, however, is to be president of an equipment company, and we can't offer him that opportunity at PMT.'' PMT develops, manufactures and markets a broad line of advanced processing systems for semiconductor manufacturing. These systems are used for etch, physical vapor deposition (PVD) and chemical vapor deposition (CVD) applications and are sold to customers worldwide. PMT sells its equipment through a combination of a direct sales force and a worldwide network of distributors. The company maintains wholly owned subsidiaries in Germany, France and South Korea. Manufacturing is conducted in Newport, Wales, and Chatsworth, Calif. The company's corporate headquarters are located in Chatsworth, north of Los Angeles.
