* off-topic, for Robert only * My side emigrated from Germany to Russia in the mid-18th century during the reign of Catherine the Great. In 1910, hungry and disillusioned with military life in Russia, my great-grandfather brought the family over here. His sons stayed in the midwest, building an extensive ranch and farming operation. Still today at the age of 76, my grandfather gets up at 5:30 am every morning to feed about 17,000 head of cattle, and attend to 860 acres of potatoes, corn, and beans. As a college project, I made an extensive study of German immigrants and our family. Your name didn't come up, but maybe our tree goes back a few hundred years further than I included in the project.
