Emile,
May we see the truth of our Lord plainly and simply......
"It's not my opinion Steve, but the opinion of God delivered in the epistles to the Hebrews. The entire epistle to the Hebrews is meant to show that the Jesus Christ has established the new covenant through his Crucifixion and Resurrection and the consequently baptizing of the Holy Spirit. The eithth ch. of Hebrews starts the summation of the previous chapters..."Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum.."(Heb. 8:1)"
I would submit to you that, as you say, "The entire epistle to the Hebrews is meant to show that the Jesus Christ has established the new covenant through his Crucifixion and Resurrection and the consequently baptizing of the Holy Spirit."
But the reason we started the study of Hebrews was to establish whether God has any promises left for the Jews! We need to establish, not the above, that Jesus Christ has established the New Covenant and replaced the Old Covenant in regard to Messiah and salvation. This is all ready established and agreed upon by you and I.
We need to establish whether or not God is through with the Jews. Isn't it your contention, that God is finished with the Jews now? That he has fulfilled all promises to them in the Old Testament.
That is why it is imperative to study Jeremiah. All prophecy in Jeremiah must be fulfilled in order for your premise to be correct, that ALL promises to the Jews were completed with Christ! And Jeremiah is where these verses from Hebrews we are studying come from.
[I would like to get into a study on the 70 weeks of Daniel with you when we complete this study, if I have not convinced you that God is not done with Israel. Determining we are currently between the 69th and 70th week of Daniel's prophecies might clear up some confusion if the Revelation has been fulfilled or is yet to come, or whether God is done with the Jews. But I leave this conversation for later.]
I want you to know Emile, it doesn't matter to me if the Jews are done with in God's eyes or not, just because their Jewish. I was born a Jew, but Modern day Judiasm only hurt me before I became a Christian. So I have no favoritism towards them. If anything, they anger and disappoint me as most modern day religions. I persue the subject only because I feel that God, for his own reasons which are high above my understanding, says he's not done with them! I am defending God's integrity, but certainly not the Modern Day Jews. So understand this. They should burn with the rest of all people that deceive the masses about Christ! And if they don't accept Christ, they will! But God is definitely not done with them for one reason or another!
So let me know if, and when we could start studying Jeremiah to see what is meant in Hebrews 8:8-12, where these verses originated from.
May God Bless You Always, Steve |
