NEW YORK, July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- RMS Titanic, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SOST) announced today that in an unique partnership between a cable and broadcast network, Discovery Channel and "Dateline NBC" will collaborate on television coverage of its fifth expedition to the Titanic wreck site this August. Television coverage includes a special edition of "Dateline NBC" -- RAISING THE TITANIC -- on Wednesday, August 12 from 10-11 PM (ET/PT). Additional coverage on NBC will include segments on "NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw" and "Today." As previously announced, Discovery Channel's two-hour live special, TITANIC LIVE, airs on Sunday, August 16 from 8-10 PM (ET)/5-7 PM (PT).
"Dateline NBC" correspondents Sara James and Bob McKeown will be reporting for the "Dateline NBC" special, RAISING THE TITANIC, and will contribute both live and taped reports for Discovery Channel's TITANIC LIVE. The correspondents will be on-board one of the four surface ocean vessels, joining the more than 90 scientists, historians and technicians involved in the expedition. In addition, an MSNBC studio will be customized for the TITANIC LIVE broadcast anchored by MSNBC's John Seiganthaler.
"Dateline NBC's" program -- RAISING THE TITANIC -- will focus on the expedition's attempt to raise a 20-ton section of Titanic's hull, dubbed the "Big Piece, which the Company attempted to recover from the debris field surrounding the wreck during its 1996 expedition, and will provide viewers with never before seen video of the ocean liner. The program will also report on the failed 1996 attempt to raise the Big Piece, a profile of George Tulloch, president of RMS Titanic, Inc., and artifacts recovered on past expeditions.
Discovery Channel's TITANIC LIVE will be seen live in more than 100 counties with simultaneous translation in Spanish, Mandarin, Thai and Japanese. The live broadcast will bring views closer to Titanic than ever before and feature the first ever images from deep within the ship's bow and stern. There will also be interviews with top-notch ocean specialists and historians researching how the ship sank and how Titanic is currently being lost to the forces of nature.
