What I know, I know, I KNOW to be true, Tippet, is that there are absolutly tracks in the sand where God is leading.
Now, realize I am not mixing up this concept with the identical situation when one is in a backsliding position and is happily trotting off to possible sin, or the appearance of sin. Sin, as we all know, is fun. So the hesitant feeling that all is not right is completely masked and obliterated in the pull to the fun world of sin, which always is fun in the first stages, or you wouldn't go near it in the first place.
BUT, in a prayerful situation, where one is TRULY seeking Him and only HIM and praying earnestly to be in the right place at the right time, I would say the door opened by God provides a feeling of peace and joy and total contentment looking through it. You want to go there somehow.
The other door being shut may be more appealing and absolutely what your soul desires in all ways. But even looking through that door brings on exactly the opposite feelings. Doubt, uncertainty, and even confusion and a feeling you shouldn't go through this door for some strange reason.
Go with the feeling God has given you. When an angel is leading you, believe me, you can feel that presence. And when an angel has his shoulder against a door, holding it shut as we push with all our might to open it, well, that is a strange feeling. And the angel has more backup than we do, so it is hopeless anyway.
