The following is part of an article from Aviation Week dated July 27, and appears on pages 86, 87. Article written by Michael O. Lavitt.
Article describes how Echo Flight Inc. uses Orbcomm.
A system designed to provide general aviation pilots with the ability to send and receive data, including real-time weather information and position reports, for less than $2000, is scheduled to be introduced at the Experimental Aircraft Assn. show in Oshkosh, Wis., this week.
The Echo Map GPS Moving Map system was developed by Echo Flight Inc., which has offices in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Boulder, Colo. It will use the Global Positioning System to give pilots position data while relying on Orbcomm satellite technology to send and receive messages, including including position reports, weather data and electronic mail.
Article seems positive about this technology. Mike B. |
