I'm with you Marty, it's hard to make sense of the volatility, other than assuming some folks are just playing the trading game while longer term investors are cautiously sitting on sidelines. As for analysts schmanalysts -- I learned my lesson to not pay them much attention when one or two brokerages sharply raised estimates on HP shortly before their last quarterly report. Stock went from upper 60s/low 70s to over 80. I kept the faith and didn't sell any. Earnings were way poor and stock plummetted. Mid 50s now.
