I'm no expert on the subject, but the prospect of home dialysis would seem to be a serious challenge.

My gut feeling is that the home units will be for the "few" who could afford that luxury. I don't think they can cut into the dialysis center oriented business. I know a couple of people who have used "home" equipment -- I know it was the primitive stuff -- but they had a lot of problems. Most dialysis patients have a multitude of complications and there is no substitute for professional care.

But FMS should be wary. I'm sure, in fact I know, they are.
