Mike,

Apologies for late reply, but was out of town. Cluster Ranger is a US Navy-built imaging system which combines separate, commercially-available elements into a multi-sensor imaging system. It was never an EOM product as such, but rather a USN-specific system, with a likely cost in the neighbourhood of US$5 million. I believe that that Cluster Ranger was intended to be the electo-optical sensor for the whole AIP (Anti-surface warfare Improvement Program)for the USN, however, the superior performance of the Wescam Model 20 resulted in a change mid-way through the program, to the point where existing Cluster Ranger units awaiting installation will be scrapped. In addition to the performance, the Wescam system enjoys a considerable cost advantage (growing daily :-( !) as Cluster Ranger probably cost in the neighbourhood of US$5 million, compared to SWAG (scientific wild-a** guess) cost of about CDN$1 million for the Model 20. Prototype testing on the P-3 should be complete by year-end. I am not aware of any integration problems to date.

Ken
