There is some indication the iMAC launch is magnifying itself

Marc your uptick to 650,000 world-wide units this year is reasonable considering AAPL's initial 400,000 unit projection for 1998 USA .

Martin's updated 1 mln unit projection had a interesting comparison to the G3 launch where only 750,000 units were achieved since 11/97:

" According to C/Net News, Apple hopes to sell about a million iMac systems in just over four months ." Sources close to the company are projecting US sales of 400,000 iMac systems by December.

That compares to unit sales of 750,000 PowerMac G3 systems in the seven months since that product's launch in November 1997,"...

As a AAPL Director his confidence is presumedly based on the iMAC's existence since 5/11/98 (WWDC) and the "initial" product roll out is a later 8/15/98 "partner reward" to CompUSA .

To meet Martin's 1 mnl sales figure and "service" their installation there must be significant "volume orders" we don't know about . There is no internet software listed in the Asian offering "yet ?" .

There may be new strategic alliances announced with the iMAC and further AAPL is breaking NEW ground in the MAC oriented Seybold .

In addition to Senor Jobs speaking there , MSFT's Ballmer , a INTC Top Gun and a X-rox biggie will join him .

C/Net's New Media News (INTC owned) today gave the iMAC a favorable review and spoke glowingly of AAPL's return to the "PC" world .

Seybold will be a "sea change" event and the basis for a $40 to $44 share price . Its inevitable the OS with applications will drive hardware sales .

Its good to see Phil Lee back "contributing" as always .

Regards,
Jim K.
