Well, I just bookmarked this subject so now I know I'm toast anyway, so here goes.
I want some opinions from some of you enlightened, feeling folks regarding a dilemma I find myself in...
Currently I live in the Valley of Silicon, have for 20+ yrs. I, and my wife (different subject) have a 5 yr and 1 yr old. Reading on this thread for the first time tonight, much of the stuff regarding kids, marriage(different subject),freedoms, predators rings a gong.
When I was a kid in Guam, Hawaii, Maryland (I'm 41) none of this mattered, except for my parents screwed up marriage (different subject). Like others mentioned here I ran around all day, everywhere.
Now, Silly Valley, my kids, no way.
So, I'm sitting here in Austin on a biz trip (working real hard) seeing that the countryside is way more open, housing/land is way cheaper, the culture probably a bit more conservative (but maybe not terribly Bubbafied), a commute from a nearby small town even a possibility. Some of that 60s/70s innocence may be available here for my kids.
But, the summers are HOTTTT! Anybody know anything more about TX? Should I do it?
