I thought he was clear that the fed is leaning toward raising, and that he suggested that Asia was preventing the fed from doing it now. The fed is thus likely to tighten when Asia stabilizes.

credibility is lost when you say one thing and do another. If you look at what you said above again, you would realize a statement like that makes no sense. Why doesn't he just say if it is not for the irrational exuberance in the stock market, he will be lowering rate to help stabilize Asia, which is what he should do. Can you imagine if he even mention the words "lower rates" in any context? DOW will break 20,000 in a week. So he is "lying" in an attempt keep irrational exuberance under control. Credibility is lost when the fed ultimately lower, rather than raise rates.

What is possibly going to keep the US interest rates at the current artificially high level, when a sunami of yen, instead of a steady trickle, starts crossing the Pacific?
