I'm starting to wonder about the cumulative effect of the LU buyout rumors. On a psychological level, people might think they've heard the rumors for so long that it can't come true. Based on all of my reading, it seems to be a very good strategic and product fit. LU covets and needs ASND tech and worldwide customer base in the upcoming battle royale with CSCO, NT/BAY and European suppliers. But, can LU and its investment bankers bite the bullet and pay the required price come 10/1/98? It's fascinating to see such a long, public process.
