I enjoy trading the OEX as its a new game for me. However, a friend of mine has been trying to convince me that the OEX's are for traders who
sit at a terminal for 8 hours and are very adept at TA with much experience in the ways of the market. Which I am not!
He trades the S&P futures contracts on the Chicago Mercantile. Those
contracts do not have the expiration as the SPX's. These are 3 month
contracts x 500. He does 1 or 2 contracts a day and rarely holds on to them for long. Sometimes 1-2 hours. Often 1-2 days. The price "decay"
is vastly different.
Yesterday, I started getting "live" quotes on the OEX/SPX on my
computer. At least I am no longer "flying" blind!

As to your favorite stock, you could cover your position with
options in the "other" direction. Leaps??
